ADA: Editor to Clean Up Empty Headings Automatically
The common ADA error for empty headings is a thing of the past! A empty header is created when a line of heading text is removed but the line is not removed. This would leave code for the heading (<h2> </h2>) with no heading text, causing issues for screen readers. Traditionally these would need to be cleaned up manually by using the 'show blocks' or 'source' tool in the editor. Now, whenever a rich text block is saved, it will automatically clean up any empty heading codes and convert them to paragraph font.
Note: Existing empty headers on a website will not be removed until that block has been edited. If you are responsible for ADA cleanup of a website and are fixing empty heading errors, you will still want to find the pages where they exist and edit the rich text editors to allow the editor to remove the code. The good news is you no longer need to hunt down the headings in the source code, simply edit the blocks on a page with the error and they will be removed.
