Improvements to Social Media Sharing
Foxbright has been busy improving the experience of sharing pages or content from the website on social media. We have some additional, even more exciting, social media enhancements we're working toward for our winter release! Stay tuned!
For the 'Ellington' release, we've accomplished the following:
- Added appropriate tags to pages and news posts to highlight and prioritize media (images/video) to be shared from the content on those pages/posts. This will ensure media shared is relevant to the content being shared IE an image from the news post itself instead of the district logo.
- Added a 'Quick Share' feature to news posts so posts can be quickly shared on Facebook and Twitter without needing to open the news post itself, or manually open a new tab for the social media account. By clicking the gear icon next to any news post, new items to 'Share on Facebook' or 'Share on Twitter' are now available so content managers can quickly share their news posts on social media accounts they have access to. (Hint: this is just a baby step toward our deeper social media integration coming soon!)
For Web Administrators
We've added several Configuration settings related to the above enhancements for web administrators to access. These can be found under the Configuration Menu>Integrations>Social Media Settings. The Social Media Settings page has three tabs (for now):
- General Settings - This tab allows a district to upload a specific 'Social Media Image'. This image will be prioritized when any page or post from the website is shared on social media. This image will be used in lieu of other meaningful media on that page. For example, if a news post that doesn't contain it's own image or video is shared, this image will be used in the social media post. This allows our clients greater control of what media accompanies their social media posts in the event what they are sharing doesn't contain any media.
- Facebook Settings / Twitter Settings - These two tabs allow web administrators to globally turn on/off the quick share function for news posts.
As we continue to develop social media integration, expect more settings to become available in these areas. In addition, Foxbright does offer an App for clients with it's own set of social media integration! Check out the Mobile Apps page for more information or to book a demo!
